Private Party Overview

Thank you for your interest in Tea-Upon-Chatsworth. Our quaint English country tea room is a lovely venue to host a party. You and your guests will be transported to a different place and time where the hustle and bustle of the outside world will simply fade away. Surrounded by antique furnishings, European paintings, fabulous food and exquisite loose-leaf teas, you and your guests will be treated as Lords and Ladies of the manor as you enjoy tea sandwiches, scones and other delicacies served on beautifully decorated 3-tiered platters while sipping the finest blends of tea from vintage English bone china.

The Queen’s Tea, $29.50, is a 4-course tea service with 10 distinct food items per person (a small-child tea service is also available for children 10 and under). Afternoon Tea comes with unlimited flavors of tea throughout your 2-hour tea service, and we have over 60 flavors of tea from which to choose. All parties are subject to CA state sales tax and 20% gratuity in addition to the above price. Our tea room has a maximum capacity of 30 guests per sitting.

Afternoon Tea Parties with 13 – 30 Guests:
• Tea Parties are 2 hours in duration and require a $200 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT due at the time of booking. Once the deposit is received, there will be NO REFUND at any time for any reason. The $200 deposit will be reimbursed one (1) business day following your tea party provided that all policies and requirements have been met.
• Final guest count and special dietary restrictions for all guests are due in writing via email to no later than 5 days before your event. Please notify the tea room either by email or phone (619-858-2848) no later than 30 days prior to your tea party if your party size will be less than 13 guests so that we may open up the other tables for other reservations.  If you notify us less than 30 days before your event that your party will be less than 13 guests, please note that we will serve and charge for 13 guests at a minimum.
• The balance of your tea service including tax and gratuity is due at the time of the tea party and is based on the guest count and dietary restrictions provided by you 5 days before your event. Your credit card on file will be charged unless we receive other form of payment from you on the day of the event. Only 1 guest check will be generated. It is up to the host of the party to pay the tea service in full as we will be unable to collect various sources of payment from other guests.

Children 6 – 12 years old must be seated with at least one paying adult for every 2 children, and the children must be supervised at all times throughout the tea party. Only 1 child is allowed in the restroom at a time unless accompanied by a responsible adult. No running or throwing of objects is allowed in the tea room. Children under the age of 6 are not allowed to participate in afternoon tea services and will not be served at the tables during service.

Tea Etiquette and Decorum are required throughout the tea service. Proper table manners and conversation are to be observed at all times. Inappropriate language, particularly curse words, and inappropriate topics are not tolerated at any time.

Decorations: Our tea room is already decorated English Country Décor with very little room for outside decoration. Also, our tables become completely full once the tiers and tea pots are served. Small party favors can be placed at each place setting. Upon request, we can provide a small gift table and, if there is space given the size of your party, we can provide an additional table to place party favors and small decorations. Balloons can be tied to chairs but cannot be left loose or up on the ceiling. The following items are NEVER ALLOWED in the tea room at any time: 1) banners or signs, 2) confetti, 3) glitter, 4) markers, 5) paint, 6) glue, 7) streamers, 8) tape. If any of these items are brought into the tea room, you will forfeit your $200 deposit plus be charged for any cost of damages to the tea room property.

Outside Food and Beverage must be approved in writing by Management at least 30 days in advance of your event and maybe subject to additional fees. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.

Tea Parties are 2 hours in duration from start to finish. Extra time for your tea party is subject to availability, must be approved in writing by Tea-Upon-Chatsworth Management at least 30 days in advance of your party, and subject to additional fees.
